IMG_0261SUP yoga… Our day of “Stand Up Paddle Boarding”

What an amazing weekend we just had. Rob and I were lucky enough on our honeymoon to try what is being touted as the fastest growing sport – Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP). We just loved it. We were able to take lessons in St Lucia at The Body Holiday and we were even lucky enough to go on a SUP tour to Smugglers  Cove. It was amazing. Crystal clear water, fresh air, and sunlight. Rob and I were hooked.

This Saturday we decided to see if Thomas would be interested as well, so we made arrangements to surprise him with a SUP yoga session. Fortunately we had  a beautiful bay here on Georgian Bay, and we saw many paddle boarders out enjoying the sport and soaking up the suns rays. Well, it was amazing, and surprise surprise…Thomas just loved it! They included an SUP trainer, which was great, and so Thomas was able to gain more understanding on how to maneuver the board. Then, guess who won a free lesson…yep, Thomas, aka the Kale Monster. Lol

As we balanced – or attempted to balance – on our boards on the Bay during the yoga session, we enjoyed the wonderful view of the mountains to the west, the beautiful marina to the south (with a wedding going on there), and as an added bonus this was also the weekend the Tall Ships were here, and so we had a splendid and unobstructed view of the three tall ships in the harbor, while crowds of people battled it out to see them on shore. It was truly beautiful.
As we soaked up the sun, we could hear the odd splash or 2 and then a giggle from Thomas as someone from the class would fall in. Rob really rocked it with an amazing hand stand, and the Kale Monster did quite amazing as well.IMG_0250
After what was hands down the best Shavasana I had ever experienced, we headed back in to shore, during which time we were given several tips and tricks from our guide (much appreciated). The grin on Thomas’ face was enough to make it all worth while. We are so proud of how well he did. This was quickly added to his (long) list of favorite sports! Special thanks to our guide, and yogi.IMG_0279

If you ever have an opportunity, this is an amazing sport and a great workout. A big thanks to Shirlee from Buddha Rider for arranging this adventure!!!

As a tribute to our SUP adventure, below you will find I have included one of my favorite recipes. This spicy plant based mayo substitute is great on burgers, tomato sandwiches, or anything you would use mayonnaise for!
