Pineapple Green Smoothie

DSC_1130Summer is here and with all the activities and warm weather nothing hits the spot better than a refreshing green drink to truly nourish your body from the inside out. I love this drink.

We are experiencing a bit of a heat wave this week and tonight after soccer practice Thomas and I stopped by the beach and surprised Rob with a pineapple green smoothie to enjoy once he got off the volleyball court. Green smoothies are pretty popular here and the mason jar of green goodness is a common sight around town, I think my in-laws to be have even gotten used to seeing our different concoctions. lol

DSC_1126Green smoothies and/or juices are easy to bring along on road trips and yummy enough for the whole family. Whether you take your current favourite smoothie recipe and start by adding a handful of spinach, or jump right into green smoothies full bore – they are a wonderful way to add more fruits and vegetables (especially green) to your diet… and who knows maybe you will get daring and sneak a few superfoods in as well???

Pineapple Green Smoothie

Ingredients
  • ½ pineapple (the riper the sweeter)
  • 4 cups of spinach
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups water
  • 6-8 ice cubes
Instructions
  1. Blend ingredients together (I love my vitamix!) and serve.
Notes
Some additional options/add ins are.. Aloe juice, Spirulina or sea vegetable powder, Flax, Chia, etc. You could also substitute Swiss chard or kale for the spinach.
