House of Cards Exercise Challenge – What ever happened to family fun night?

What could be more fun???
Remember Family fun nights? Sitting down with the family, digging out the board games, charades, and cards. I used to love family fun night; in fact I still enjoy a good board game. I remember driving my father bonkers with constant requests to play Uno. Can we play it now, can we play it now, can we play it now? Ahhh good times. And scrabble, who wouldn’t love a game of scrabble?
A nice cup of cocoa on a beautiful winters night, truly taking a moment to connect and just ‘be’ together…
Yeah, this was nothing like that. lol
You see Rob and I had a surprise up our sleeves for Thomas… a brand new way to experience family fun night and man did we have fun, and worked up a sweat!
For anyone who missed last week’s Biggest Loser – it really is worth catching. (For the record they all are worth catching and truly inspiring… Love you Jillian!!!)
Any way using Bob’s idea we took a deck of cards, shuffled the deck, and divided it into 3 equal piles – one for each of us. (If you have a bigger family just add another deck of cards.)
We then assigned an exercise to each suit. For example:

Thus if an 8 of hearts was drawn that person would have to do 8 lunges and so on. Aces were 11’s – come on guys, did you really think we would make them as 1’s? We even kept the jokers in the deck and used them as wild cards – you could choose any exercise you wanted but you had to do 10 of that exercise. By assigning different exercises to the suits you can easily mix this exercise up and make it harder or easier as needed.
What a workout!!!! The floor was covered in sweat! The dog didn’t know what to think! And my belly hurt from laughing so hard!

Each time one of us picked a card we would get a giggle over the number that came up, only to have the tables turned on us when it was our turn to flip our card over. We all preformed the exercises at the same time and really did cheer each other on.
We can’t wait for the next family fun night; however, next time I think we may do the whole deck all together… time to take it up a notch. lol
What are you favorite exercises, and ways to get the family moving?
